Why I went back to handwriting my content and what it taught me about my voice

I love A.I.
It’s made so many parts of life and business easier - from automating repetitive tasks to suggesting recipes and solving the occasional DIY dilemma. It’s efficient. Smart. And I’m all for using smart tools.
But recently, I realised something that stopped me in my tracks.
I’d started relying too heavily on A.I. for my content and marketing.
And slowly, quietly, I disconnected from my own voice.
The Disconnection That Crept In
It wasn’t immediate.
But over time, I noticed my content felt… off.
Less grounded. Less connected. Less me.
I wasn’t creating from alignment - I was shortcutting a process that, ironically, is one of the most powerful tools I have in my business: my voice.
So I Went Back to Basics
Not forever. Not for everything.
But enough to feel the difference.
I picked up my Remarkable (which I love) and started handwriting my posts and emails. Old school style. It felt good. Natural. Connected.
My Remarkable converts handwriting to text, which means I can still use digital tools without skipping the part that matters most - the expression. Yes, I still ramble. I still add too many words sometimes. But then I call on Aria (my AI copy buddy) to help me clean things up - not to change my message, just to polish it.
If she goes rogue, I pull it back to my unorthodox-but-effective way.
The Shift Was Immediate
Since making this change, I’ve felt more connected to my voice, my work and the people reading it.
I’ve prioritised time to write, not just squeeze it in. It’s now a non-negotiable part of my week and the ripple effect has been huge. Prime example - this! My first Blog post for 2025 and it's August!!!
One recent post (handwritten, of course) had the highest engagement I’ve seen in months. But more importantly?
It sparked real conversations with women in business who, after reading it, took clear, aligned action. Two completely different directions. Two powerful moves. And if they stay in motion? They’ll be in a completely different place 3, 6, or 12 months from now.
And that? That’s the best kind of ROI.
Take Back What Matters
When someone reads your content...
Feels something...
And moves because of it?
That’s impact. That’s leadership. That’s alignment.
So, if going “back to basics” with how I create allows that kind of connection - I’m all in.
I still love A.I. and will continue to use it where it serves. But I’m not outsourcing my voice again.
Because your voice? It’s not fluff. It’s strategy.
